After two years out of the ring, Keith Thurman finally made his comeback last night in Brooklyn against Josesito Lopez. Before the fight, Thurman openly declared that we would not see the best version of him and that proved to be very true. After dominating early and dropping Lopez with a perfectly place left hook in round 2, Thurman failed to capitalize and gradually Lopez worked his way back into the fight, finishing extremely strong in the second half after seizing momentum in the 7th round.
At the end of it all, Thurman walked away with a hard earned majority decision with scorecards of 115-111 and 117-109 in favor of Thurman, and the final judge scoring it a 113-113 draw. Personally, I don't understand the 113-113. Lopez managed to apply pressure at points but even in his most competitive rounds, you could make the argument that he was out punched by One Time.

The part that I found funny was Tom Schreck tossing out a 117-109. I myself had it 116-111
and I saw others have it around 117-110, but Schreck is notorious for lopsided scorecards.

Congrats to Thurman on the successful return to the ring, it sounds like he's going to be pursuing a Manny Pacquiao matchup next as opposed to Porter or Spence like we want to see. Given what looked to be a little ring rust versus Lopez, I can't disagree with the move. The Pacquiao fight is still a super entertaining matchup for the fans, it still has a belt on the line, and it isn't as dangerous as going up against Spence, a challenge Thurman has said he is saving for 2020.
